The Central MA Veterans Support Center (CMVSC) recently marked a significant milestone with the grand opening of its expanded food pantry, an initiative that has been making a tangible difference in the lives of local veterans and their families. In just six months, the center has distributed an impressive 50,000 pounds of food and continues to grow its outreach and services. This remarkable effort was celebrated at the grand opening, with local politicians and community leaders showing their support for the veterans in our region.

At Donnegan Systems, we are proud to have contributed to the CMVSC’s efforts by donating key resources to help improve their pantry infrastructure. As part of our commitment to supporting veterans in our community, we provided shelving for the pantry and walk-in freezer, ensuring that the food distribution process is more organized and efficient. These contributions will help the pantry operate at full capacity, accommodating more families and ensuring that more food can be stored, organized, and easily accessed.

We believe in the mission of the Central MA Veterans Support Center and are thrilled to be part of their work in providing vital resources to those who have served our country.

Supporting 400 Families Weekly

Currently, around 400 families benefit from the CMVSC’s weekly food distribution program. This service is a critical resource for veterans and their families who are facing financial challenges, providing them with the essential nutrition they need to get by. The pantry is open to veterans who present their ID, and is a no-hassle, welcoming process that helps ensure veterans and their families have the food they need to thrive.

On any given day, between 50-60 veterans and their families shop at the pantry, which has become an essential part of the community. The food pantry isn’t just about food—it’s about providing dignity, respect, and support for those who have served our country. This initiative is an excellent example of how organizations like the CMVSC are helping to meet the needs of our local veterans, ensuring they don’t go without.

A Strong Community Response

The grand opening of the new facility was attended by several prominent political figures, including Massachusetts State Senator Michael Moore, Congressman Jim McGovern, and Worcester City Councilor Robert Frost. Their presence underscored the importance of this initiative and the community’s commitment to supporting veterans.

AnnMarie Baxter, the Executive Director of the Central MA Veterans Support Center, spoke passionately about the ongoing mission to serve veterans in need. Under her leadership, the center has grown exponentially and continues to make a significant impact in the region.

Expanding the Pantry & How You Can Help

As part of their continued commitment to serving the community, the CMVSC is also planning to expand its pantry to meet the growing demand. This expansion will help ensure that the CMVSC can continue to meet the needs of veterans and their families in Central Massachusetts for years to come.

The CMVSC is always looking for ways to support local veterans, and there are plenty of opportunities to get involved. Whether you’re interested in donating food, volunteering your time, or making a financial contribution, your support can make a significant difference in the lives of those who have served our country.
