College Campuses are small cities, we can help make that city more organized and efficient, and save space in doing so.
College Campuses are like small cities, they have police and fire, medical services, community centers, and more. All of the different areas on campus are unique and therefore require unique storage solutions. Implementing the right storage can improve operations, increase enrollment, boost recruitment tactics, and even save you a substantial amount of space.
This blog post will focus on the various areas of a college campus, and which storage can be implemented to improve these areas.
The Campus Library:
Libraries are usually one of the oldest buildings on campus, and they are usually located at the heart of campus making it difficult to add an addition or build new. Renovating seems to be the popular choice for these buildings, but how do you create more space with what you already have? The answer lies in High-Density Mobile Shelving. Adding our cantilever or 4-post shelving on carriages can increase your storage capacity by 50% or decrease the necessary storage space by 50%. By eliminating wasted aisle space you can put more shelves in the same amount of space, allowing twice as much to be stored.
Aside from book storage libraries usually also have other storage needs, such as makerspace storage, IT storage, and more. Makerspaces are a new trend that attracts more community members and students to the library for hands on crafting. These areas need open space, tables and chairs, as well as storage for all of the materials.
Libraries take a long time to bulk up their collections, and therefore are unwilling or less likely to want to weed collections. So what happens when you run out of space entirely or you can’t store certain books onsite? Thankfully, our High Density Mobile concept also applies to warehouse settings for offsite storage of collections and large or rare books. These systems can maximize any warehouse space and make the most out of your investment.
Campus Medical Centers:
College Campuses are in charge of keeping the student population safe, and medical centers play a large part in that. One of the markets we specialize in is the Healthcare market, so using our knowledge from those projects and applying it to the college campus is a no brainer. We offer solutions such as stainless steel shelving for sterile areas, suspended mobile shelving for central sterile storage, file and records storage, pharmacy storage, and more. Consult a storage expert to make sure you are implementing the most safe and space efficient solution for every area of the campus medical center.
Campus Police:
As I’ve mentioned above, College Campuses are like small cities and they need protection just like any other city. Campus police officers have tough jobs that can be made easier if the correct storage solution is implemented in their facility. Personal storage lockers can be a great way to help officers transition at the beginning and end of a shift, and adding features such as boot drying racks and HVAC integration can help keep them ready for the day ahead.
Along with personal storage lockers we have weapons lockers for various areas of the campus, evidence storage lockers and long term storage, and Narcotics evidence lockers that prevent smell.
Museums and Gallery Storage:
All college campuses have some sort of collection, whether it is a large museum resource collection or a small gallery of a few paintings. Protecting priceless artifacts is something we have a lot of experience with, and we have worked with museums and galleries large and small to prevent damage and protect their collection against all agents of deterioration.
Administrative Offices:
All college campuses have administrative offices, admissions offices, marketing departments, and more. These areas of campus have a lot of materials, paper files, and confidential records storage. Using a high density mobile system can increase storage space in these offices and open up areas to hire more people or can open up that space for other uses such as offices, meeting areas, and more. Additionally, since confidential records must be kept by all schools, audit control features and security restrictions can be put in place on each system, and even on each carriage if desired, so that only those with access may enter the system.
Maintenance and Grounds Storage:
All campuses also have maintenance and ground storage that sometimes requires them to have both bulky and small inventory on hand at all times. Keeping things organized and easy to find can help keep the campus running properly. Mobile shelving is a good, cost-effective, way to save space and keep these areas organized.
