In a recent collaboration, Donnegan Systems partnered with the Vermont Historical Society to revolutionize their storage and display capabilities for an extensive collection of historical artifacts. This project aimed to create innovative shelving solutions designed specifically for a diverse range of items, including framed art, quilts, and tapestries. By focusing on secure, organized storage, the Society can now showcase its treasures while ensuring their preservation.
The Vermont Historical Society faced the challenge of efficiently managing a vast collection that required both security and aesthetic appeal. To address this, Donnegan Systems worked closely with the Society to develop a comprehensive storage plan tailored to their unique needs. The project featured custom-designed Spacesaver 4-Post shelving units with Nantucket drawers, equipped with glass tops and individual locks for enhanced visibility and security. Additionally, the incorporation of ½ height locking doors above the drawers provided further protection for artifacts displayed on open shelving, allowing visitors to appreciate the items from multiple angles while keeping them safe.
A standout element of this project was the innovative design of the Nantucket drawers. These drawers not only secured the valuable contents but also added a modern touch to the overall aesthetic of the storage area. This dual-function design emphasized the concept of “storage as display,” enabling the Vermont Historical Society to manage its collection more effectively while elevating the visitor experience. The project also included open shelving with sliding glass doors and full glass back panels, ensuring that the Society can share its rich history with the public in an engaging way.
The Vermont Historical Society project exemplifies Donnegan Systems’ commitment to creating tailored storage solutions that enhance both functionality and accessibility. By implementing these innovative designs, the Society can preserve its invaluable collection while providing an elevated experience for visitors, ensuring that Vermont’s rich history is both protected and celebrated.
