Hayden Library at MIT needed a modern solution to replace its aging mechanical assist shelving system, which had become cumbersome for staff and students. Donnegan Systems responded with a streamlined approach: install a more efficient mechanical assist system, reuse existing cantilever shelving to reduce costs, and complete the project over summer break to minimize disruption.
Our team didn’t just upgrade hardware—we ensured that the collection’s integrity was preserved. Over 14,000 linear feet of books were carefully removed and reloaded shelf-by-shelf using precise placement cards to ensure perfect reinstallation. The result was a more accessible, cost-effective, and user-friendly library storage system.
