With technology and security protocol changing rapidly, public safety buildings start to show their age quickly. Whether you’re looking for more storage space, more comfortable spaces for employees, or just a fresh look, sometimes small details can make a big difference. Incorporating a few of these seemingly simple additions into your public safety storage can make a big difference in the productivity and well-being of your officers and employees.
In-Locker Charging StationsOfficers carry more electronic gear than ever from cell phones and radios to body-worn cameras and iPads. All of that gear must be charged, but if charging stations and outlets are dispersed throughout the building, it can be more time-consuming to ensure that they’re all ready at the start of a shift. By placing charging outlets directly inside of lockers, officers can be sure that all their gear is ready, secure, and in one location when they prepare for duty.
Under-locker Drawers
Due to public safety storage budget restraints, many police departments opt to purchase standard lockers without separate locking drawers. However, these drawers can add essential additional space to dry bulletproof vests or air out shoes without taking up space inside the locker. Luckily, the locking drawers can be installed beneath your existing lockers for a relatively low cost.
Pullout Benches
When planning locker room spaces, adding benches can restrict how much space is available for aisles or extra lockers. Individual benches can be designed to pull out from each locker to save precious space while still creating a comfortable space for officers to prepare and unwind. Plus, by placing a pullout bench just above a locking drawer, every inch of dead space is eliminated.
HVAC Integration
Between sweaty uniforms, heavily-used gear, and dirty shoes, we all know the scent of locker rooms can be less than pleasant. By integrating your ventilation system directly with the lockers, musty smells are pulled up and out of the locker room while helping gear dry more efficiently. The same integration can be utilized to pull narcotics odors from your drug evidence storage to help keep your employees healthy and breathing easy.
Mesh-Backed Evidence Lockers
Pass-thru evidence lockers are a great option for maintaining chain of custody and making it simple for evidence techs to move evidence from deposit directly into processing. With a steel mesh door on the back of an evidence locker, it only takes a glance for the evidence technician to see when evidence has been deposited. Items secure, time saved we call that a win-win.Read more about our public safety storage solutions here.
